Why Denver Joints?

Denver Joints was created to fill a need. If you are a white collar person seeking an evening out, you can turn to the entertainment pages of the local newspaper. There you find symphonies, plays, reviews of upscale restaurants and the like. Blue collar persons do not have this option. They are looking for a cost effective place for mom, dad and the kids to have a night out. Some place with a modest food menu, reasonably priced drinks and some entertainment like electronic games or shuffleboard and maybe even a little dancing. Such a place might be the local neighborhood Joint. The local may be friendly and welcoming or it may not. These people need a choice. They will not find such establishments reviewed in the papers. Thus, Denver Joints.

What is a Joint?

Joints are found in neighborhoods throughout the city regardless of the nationality, location, or ethnics of the area. Joints are places where people and families congregate to be entertained, meet with friends, enjoy reasonably priced food, watch sports, play pool or other games, not to be concerned about the latest wine or clothing fads, be treated with respect by employees and proprietors, and most importantly, feel at home and comfortable with the prevailing surroundings.

The Proprietors of Denver Joints

Two public spirited citizens, Bob Cooper and Don Jones, were having lunch one day when a discussion of blue collar workers came up. They agreed that the foundation of American society is the worker. These are the people who work hard, take care of their families, pay their debts and barely scrape by. At least they should have some help in finding a Joint for a night out! And who should do this? The newspapers were obviously out as they cater to the well-to-do. An internet search came up with a list of upper class salons and restaurants. So who to do it? The need is certainly clear. More discussion revealed the fact that Cooper and Jones had between them over 100 years of investigating Joints. They were qualified! They could do something to make the world a better place for working people. Remembering the old Russian peasant saying "The rich are lucky to have us -- if not for us they would have to eat money", Cooper and Jones shook hands on it. And, to coin a phrase, the rest is history.

How Does DJRI Operate?

Unlike other endeavors of this kind, whose evaluation regularly appear in websites, periodicals, newspapers, free rags, and other questionable forms of entertainment media, DJRI members, aka Jointerios, visit, unannounced and on a regular basis, a randomly chosen Joint. They sample the cuisine, test the libations, observe the décor, note the ambiance and pay careful attention to the service offered. DJRI does not depend on the biased opinions or evaluations of narrow-minded strangers in its selection and review of a Joint. This awesome onus is assumed by and left to the extensive experience of dedicated Jointeros who have accumulated over a century (100 years) of experience with joints and their inner workings . After a short time period following the visit the Joint is rated in accordance with "Thinking Outside the Box" standards developed by DJRI for the express purpose of "Making a Difference, 24/7/365". A revisit is sometimes appropriate in order to affirm a meaningful and accurate evaluation.
